We arrived Ha Noi at 8.00 am after wonderful days in Hoi An and Da Nang. We put all luggage at hotel and did the trip with Hanoikids.
The grassy fringes of Hoan Kiem lake in the heart of Hanoi are a hive of activity. By day, hundreds of Hanoians perform tai chi in near-silent, mesmerising unison and groups hold "laughing yoga" or laughing sessions to relax. By night, young boys string up badminton nets between the trees, and older couples ballroom dance in the yellowy half-light to a tinny stereo. Tourist participation is encouraged.
When you walk around Parks or lakes in city and young students come to you and ask if you can talk a bit in english with them. Dont be afraid, spend some time with them and Talk about your travelling, your life in your homecountry, their studying or ask them about Vietnam. They will be happy and you meet the locals
Heading somewhere further than the Old Quarter and tired of walking? Get a taxi that belongs to one of these reliable companies: Mai Linh, Taxi Group, Thanh Nga, Thanh Cong. Lovely- friendly kids!
Hanoikids org has many option tours, they also have full day tour with sightseeing and food tour. Unfortunately, our kids needed to have relax so we could not do the food tour in the afternoon. So this day, we collected the option: visiting Temple of literature and Museum of Ethnology
As we could not do the food tour in the afternoon because of our kids heath, but we had a very delicious Pho with the student guides, they took us to a famous shop in Old quarter (Sorry that I can not remember the restaurant’s name)
Make sure you book in advance to avoid disappointment of missing out. Don’t be afraid to ask for suggestions from the guides as they’re really open and happy to help
If you can, do take a little gift as a sign of appreciation for their time, our guides were so appreciative we’d thought to do this.
If you can stay near the old quarter to facilitate walking around for the food tour. You decide or describe what food you want to eat or try and they customise your tour for you.
