The National Monument (Indonesian: Monumen Nasional), or simply Monas is a 132 m (433ft) tower in the centre of Merdeka Square, Central Jakarta, symbolizing the fight for Indonesia.
Avoid coming here at weekend because of long queue.
Most of the time the weather is quite hot in day time in Jakarta, hence it’s better to visit Monas in the morning, afternoon or evening time. However if you choose to visit in the day time, do not forget to bring umbrella or hat to cover your head from the sun.
Fountain attraction conducted at Monas Park on every Saturday and Sunday, started from 07:00 pm to 08:00 pm.
You could reach Monas either by taxi or bus. If you like to try the bus, it would be more comfortable and safe to use Trans Jakarta Busway. Busway with Blok M to Kota Tua (Old City) route will stop at Monas Busway Terminal.

The National Museum of Indonesia is an archeological, historical, ethnological, and geographical museum located in Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Central Jakarta
The National Museum is located at Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat 12 Central Jakarta, right the opposite of Monas. You can ride a TransJakarta bus and stop at Monas terminal. It's only about 200 meters away from the Museum.
The Museum is closed on Monday and Public Holidays.
There is a small gift shop located at the entrance hall which has the same opening hours as the Museum. It offers a selection of books, postcards and reproductions of various exhibits.

Glodok is touted as the largestChinatown region in the country and one of the largest in the world.
Getting to Glodok Chinatown is fairly easy. Located not far from Stasiun Jakarta Kota, visitors may either take a taxi or ojek (motorbike taxi) or try public transportation such as the TransJakarta Bus, Metromini,or 3-wheeled Bajaj.
You can take a walk to other small alleys around the corner to see the unseen Jakarta.
You should wear casual clothes as it is almost always summer in Jakarta, bring water bottle, sunscreen if you may need, a camera and wear comfortable shoes(sandals are okay)
A good time to visit would be around Chinese New Year, beginning of February. This is a good way to have an insight on their culture and you’ll be taking part in their colourful and extravagant celebrations as well.
