Empal is basically sweet fried beef. Nasi empal is an Indonesian dish of empal with rice, tofu, tempeh, chili sauce and sambel goreng kentang (sweet potato chips). The beef is really tender and tasty in an Indonesian way. People often serve it with Oseng - stir frying vegetable, which is also delicious and well- seasoned.

Nasi empal is definitely something to go for when you are extremely hungry, as the flavorful empal will make you want to eat more rice.

The eatery is located in a tiny alley in Surabaya and quite hard to find. But it’s definitely worth it.

Es Puter can be translated as stirred ice cream. It is a traditional dessert in Indonesia with coconut being the main ingredient. The ice cream had a nice rough texture and was adorned with many colorful toppings. The presentation itself is enough to whet your appetite.
