How to get to Yushan National Park?

Shuttles in the early morning take you from Alishan to the beginning of the Yushan main peak trail. On the other hand, you could rent a scooter and ride from Chiayi, through Alishan and to the Tataka Recreation Area. Keep in mind that there are no buses or trains back from the Alishan train, so you'll need to continue to Dongpu to get out.

We drove through Yushan National Park from Sun Moon Lake on the way to Alishan National Forest. Even though the road was quite bumpy with many turns, I didn’t want the ride to end. The forest was so green and the clouds covered the tops of the trees and it seemed heavenly. I was taking pics all along the road and at one point in the car as we were driving I took a picture of a small monkey sitting on the top of road sign and the pic wasn’t blurry. There are many trails here but we didn’t really stop and take any as we were headed to Alishan. If I had my own car driving through here, I would take a week and just explore. There is a diversity of flora and fauna and you won’t want to leave. If you have a chance you should definitely check it out.

We went in June, 2015 for a three days hiking plan. Stopped by the visitors center before entering the main gate to the highest peak. Of course the view on the top was amazing, the sunrise with the cloud river is the best reward after 6 hours hiking + 3 hours climbing. You also could skip the hiking and purely enjoy the fresh, cool air and the wonderful environment, since the visitor' center is already elevation 2500 M. After all, Yushan ( Mt. Jade) is the highest mountain in northeast Asia.
