Why YuLaLa is special ?
What makes it Japanese are the owners who cook, prepare, and serve the food with care. There are only seven tables at this tiny restaurant, half of which are cushions on the floor. All their dishes are special, though of honorable mention are their Croquettes and Chocolate Desserts.
This impeccably clean, restful gem pipes classical music across its wood-floored space and travellers sit cross-legged on cushions. Open for lunch and dinner, look out for favourites such as tofu dumplings, stewed eggplant and sautéed salt pork. A little bit of zen to take you from the bustle of the city.
Must try dishes:
Fried Tofu with Tomato or Dumplings
Marinated Chicken Breast
Hot Chocolate Cake.

Simple, well cooked food. Shoes off at door, few tables on floor and couple of small regular tables
It is delicious! Had a steamed eggplant with vegetables and shrimp. Side of rice with Japanese pickles and roasted green tea. Definitely would return again
Small Japanese run tea house. Lovely wooden floors. You leave your shoes outside and sit in one of three low western style chairs/tables or one of three Japanese style mats. If the sitting style(s) puts you off, don't go. Place can get quite busy and you need to get lucky. When we arrived there were a couple open tables. While we were there, the place filled up and some groups were turned away. Menu is small. No sushi or fish but one shrimp dish. Not extensive but enough for either vegetarians or carnivores. Excellent service. Server spoke very good English. Stewed vegetables and deep fried tofu with sesame paste, combination baked tomato and sweet pepper with balsamic vinegar along with potato salad with mustard and cider vinegar, and a vegetable soup. Everything was delicious. Sizes were reasonable. We asked our server which was better. The hot chocolate cake with iced whip cream or the rich chocolate cake with caramel sauce. She said the hot chocolate cake. It was essentially a molten chocolate cake and quite good. We were pleased with everything One item to note. Most places offer 8000 kip/US dollar. Here you are only offered 7900.
Well, I came here for all the praise on tripadvisor, only to find that there is no reason for this restaurant to be among the top 3 of Vientiane.1. leave your shoes outside before getting in2. six tables, three sit-on-the-floor, three normal3. small menu, 60% meat, 40 % vegetarian, no fish/seafood4. mains between $ 6 and $8, portions small : over-priced5. the food is a strange mix of Japanese (Asian) mix, bur REAL Japanese food has a lot more to offer6. toilet in the kitchen(as in many Lao/Thai restaurants, but not in expensive ones)
This is a small restaurant with cozy atmosphere and interesting menu - modern combination of Asian ingredients. Went there few times and each time was really happy.Liked the food and the service a lot.

Great simple japanese food (not sushi/raw fish more like croquette) served by a great japanese couple. Nice laid back and quiet atmosphere with cushions on the floor seating
