Beautiful lake...everyone here agrees...albeit a bit crowded. That said there are plenty of parks around to explore and pagodas on hill-tops to trek to, where you can be all by yourself. Just avoid the main tourist spots and you are good. Do take the boat ride at dusk...its lovely!

This area of China is so picturesque and relaxing to visit as an escape of the chaos of the big cities. We took a private chartered boat ride around the entire West Lake. Ticket prices were reasonable for our group of 18. You will have the opportunity to later stroll along the beautiful pathways that meander through gardens and around bridges surrounding the lake. There is a Starbucks, several restaurants, and gift shops in this area as well. It can be quite crowded on the weekends as this is a popular destination for many of the local Chinese people.
