Why Vincom Center is special ?

It has 3 basements and 5 levels to make for more than 250 shops altogether. Vincom Center is Ho Chi Minh City’s biggest shopping mall. If you are looking for international products then this should be your first stop as this is where most international luxury brands have their flagship stores, right in the tourist heart of the city. There are also some convenient restaurants and cafes serving food from most regions including many international franchises.

They have separated it into two separate buildings just across the street from each other. Vincom Center A is housed in a delightful French styled period building connected to The Continent Hotel, while Vincom Center B is just behind it, occupying the first five storeys of a modern, glass-fronted skyscraper.

Not only the new out-of-scale tower has been built on the location of architectural vintage colonial villas, but its building is responsible for the destruction of one of the few Saigon's public spaces, a small park in which hundred year' s old trees were out-rooted, to build in its place a tacky Dysneyland-style space in guise of entrance to yet another shopping mall with all its international brands. Not only was the public space destroyed, but across Dong Khoi street (arguably the most well known street in Saigon), a whole block charged with history with famous addresses like Givral Cafe, Passage Eden, pastry shop La Pagode, etc. was knocked down to build yet another horrendous tacky building all devoted to instant gratification consumerism and the resolve of the authorities to deprive the people of Saigon of its own cultural heritage and landmarks. So yes, for all interested in the way Saigon is slowly but surely destroyed by a clique of crass arrogant leaders should pay a visit to the Vincom Center.
