Why Tsutenkaku is special ?

Shinsekai is Osaka's "new world," a district that was developed before the war and then neglected in the decades afterwards. At the district's center stands Tsutenkaku Tower, the nostalgia evoking symbol of Shinsekai. The area was developed into its current layout following the success of the 1903 National Industrial Exposition, which brought over five million people to the neighborhood within just five months. Shortly after the expo closed its doors, work began to improve and update Shinsekai.

I love going up towers to see views so I'm okay with the queue. There's a pocky shop and soureveniere shop but you cannot enter unless you have been up to the viewing deck. Nothing serious though cuz there's also a Pocky shop in Dotonburi and the souvenirs can be found anywhere. The sushi palce under Tsutenkaku was pretty nice.

Went in the morning and it was not crowded at all. The tower offers great views of Osaka and there are statues of deities and Billiken, which supposedly bring you good luck if you rub its feet. The quirky statues and the weird anime superhero characters were all very amusing. There are plenty of souvenirs which you can get at the shop that you have to go through to exit. At night, the tower lights up in different colours and can be easily spotted from afar. The tower is included in Osaka Unlimited Day Pass and is near Ebisucho subway station.

We got to the tower after 1 hour or more of queuing. From the ground floor, it seemed the line is moving fast but what you don't realize is the snake of the line before you even reach the observation deck. I wouldn't suggest going in even with the free entrance included in the unlimited pass specially if it is the one day pass because you will lose a lot f precious time. Maybe just walk around a little in the area and take a picture with the tower in the background.

Its awesome if your into that sort of things. They have water bottle in the shape of the tower, they sell practically everything one might want if they wanted to go crazy. Very close proximity to Spa World
