Thank you Tour Mandalay and the very helpful Mr Thura for the silk smooth organisation of our 10 day trip, and thank you to the delightful and incredibly knowledgeable guides who made our time in Myanmah so enjoyable. Our trip with Tour Mandalay was chosen because of the very reasonable cost, and from reading the impressive recommendations which proved true in every aspect.Little details get big ticks, like the bottles of iced water always offered when returning to the car and the pack of 'wet-wipes' to cool our foreheads and clean feet before replacing our shoes after barefoot temple walks. Each of our guides were charming and beautiful girls and their enthusiasm for their country and culture was inspiring and infectious. They easily adapted to our requests to change some temple visits to an alternative theme and lightened the bumps and dust of some of the pony-cart excursions in Bagan and outer Mandalay with wonderful stories and histories.Traveling as a family group of four, this trip was perfect for us and we would all recommend Tour Mandalay as we have already to our many friends now interested in visiting the amazing country of Myanmar.
Tour Mandalay customized a 14 night private tour through Myanmar. Phyu was excellent and a pleasure to work with - prompt and professional with all emails, with lots of back and forth to finalize the itinerary and accommodation choices. From the first arrival in Mandalay to the departure in Yangon, all the arrangements were handled exactly as planned, and the entire trip went smoothly. I had asked for flexibility with the guides in the daily sightseeing, and all of them delivered. Highly recommended!!
Initially I was concerned about sending a large sum of US$ to a bank in Singapore, however, after contacting people from TA we were reassured that everything went well for them. We were so glad that we used Trip Mandalay as everything was so well organized and they were able to adapt to our arrival and departure times. The guides and drivers were excellent and the hotels either very good or excellent . We had an 11 day tour and for the most part it was exceptional and very interesting. The people of Myanmar are lovely and we really enjoyed time just walking through villages to see their daily routines. Buddism is a major part of how they interact and it was wonderful to have such excellent guides to explain this to us.Some things to consider 1. take perfect US $ (a bill with the slightest imperfection will be refused, $20 denomination was very useful. It is also useful to have some local currency and we changed a 20 at the airport and it went a long way.2. Yangon is a traffic nightmare. Since the new open door policy the number of cars on the roads has increased dramatically and the roads are not able to handle the traffic. So much of our time was spent sitting in major traffic jams, but definitely visit Shwedagon Pagoda and the reclining buddha. The rest of the city I would pass on due to the amount of time wasted in traffic.3. Yangon domestic airport...unlike the international terminal the domestic terminal was a crazy. They have a system of placing a sticker on your shirt to indicate the airline you are travelling on. Then in the departure area some one will walk around with a small sign announcing the flight. It seems that all the airlines in Myanamar have the same schedule and the process is very chaotic. The arrival back at Yangon was a sight to be seen (or not) as at least 5 plane arrived at the same time. There are no luggage carousels and all the luggage was dumped in a door opening that was about 6 ft. wide...be prepared it is crazy.4. Bagan...we had a fantastic itinerary and we also booked Balloons Over Bagan...expensive but a trip of a lifetime.5. Mandalay.. once again an awesome guide who recognized that we already had seen enough pagodas/temples and took to some very interesting craft facilities. She also took us to a local Chinese Noodle restaurant. a real treat and very inexpensive.6. Inle Lake...wow this was fantastic and worth the time to get there. It is an early morning flight, then an hour in the car and then another hour in a boat if we went directly to the hotel. However, once we were in the boat our guide took us to many interesting handicraft places...absolutely loved it. We also went to a very good restaurant and the food was reasonable and very good. The hotel was like paradise. Stay at least 2 days to make the trip worthwhile.7. The airlines in Myanmar all seem to have the same early departure schedule, so there were numerous early morning wake up calls. I was exhausted at the end of the tour so build in some down time in your itinerary.8. Go soon before the country is over run with tourists.
I recently travelled to Myanmar and organised everything with Tour Mandalay. Excellent service with knowledgable guides, clean air conditioned vehicles and flexibility when we got to a stage where another Pagoda and Buddha were just too much! Everything was booked smoothly by Phyu - nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend Tour Mandalay and plan to book through them in the future.
