Tips for you
“NUMBER 1 LONG TAN CROSS TOUR” After searching TA for hours looking for a tour of the Long Tan Cross, Vung Tau, Nui Dat and other battlefield sites, I finally nailed it down to this one and am I glad I did. On the recommendations of one of the reviews on this site, I emailed Glenn Nolan from Tommy's 3 sports bar in Vung Tau. Glenn could not be more helpful in providing me with the info needed to organise a private and customised tour with him for my wife and I. I wont go into the actual tour as it would take too long, but I will say that Glenn's vast knowledge of all things about the Australian military battles and occupation in Vietnam is mind blowing. As you drive and walk around the sites with Glenn's narration, you can truly get the feeling of what it was like during those times, right down to standing at the cross while Glenn explains how the Long Tan battle unfolded. My wife isn't really into that sort of thing, but at the end of our Vietnam holiday, she said that the tour was one of the highlights of the trip. This tour is a must, don't bother scouring other tours, as this will satisfy the most hard core military enthusiast Just a tip on the best and fastest way to get to Tommy's 3 bar from Saigon: Make sure you book tour before you purchase boat ticket. *Get a Hydrofoil ticket from the ferry terminal in Saigon to Vung Tau the day before your tour, get the first boat (8am) the cost is $400,000 VND about $24.00AU return, the trip takes about 90mins. *Get a taxi from Vung Tau to Tommy's bar (about 5mins & a couple of bucks, just write down address provided at the bottom and give it to the cabbie) Then do the reverse to get back to Saigon, the return boats go at 2pm & 4.30pm (choose what time you want to come back, WHEN YOU FIRST BUY YOUR TICKET, as you can only use the corresponding ticket to timeslot) Glenn Nolan Tommy's 3 Sports Bar No 3 Duong Le Ngoc Han St Vung Tau EMAIL - [email protected] Cheers.
