Why Tombori River Cruise is special ?

Tombori River Cruise is a mini cruise, guided by the Osaka Guide Crew. Full of genuine Osaka atmosphere as it passes the famous Glico signboard. Enjoy waving hands at passers-by on the promenade and bridges.

A 20-minute cruise along Dotonburi River is a great way to experience the neon city lights from a different angle particularly during the Christmas season. Not only are holiday decorations strung across the bridges, the animated cruise guide even dresses up as Santa Claus.

What to explore at Tombori River Cruise?

You’ll start by lining up at the Tazaemonbashi Bridge Boat Dock, a 5-minute walk from Namba Station. With seating capacity of about 20 passengers, be sure to bundle up for chilly nights. Once comfortable you’ll want to have your camera ready to capture the fun electronic displays and mechanical ones, too.

The highlight of the course was when the boat paused beneath the Ebisubashi Bridge where the Glico man billboard shines bright above. Glico is one of Japan’s largest food distributors and is popularly known for its Pocky. A landmark since 1935, locals & tourists alike so often use it as a meeting spot while enjoying a takoyaki (octopus dumplings) appetizer. Across from Glico is the Asahi beer billboard. Watch closely because the colors change from solid white to yellow as the mug is topped off with “Super Dry” formula.

With nine bridges, a panoramic view of Osaka Minami and the comedy of the tour guide, you’ll experience some of the best views of Downtown Osaka on the Tombori River Cruise.

Especially if you have the Osaka Amazing Pass, catch a ride on Tonbori River Cruise to fully capture the district's flashiness around the river! Although the enthusiastic guides do the tour explanation in Japanese, they often mix in a little English plus singing so you have an idea of what's going on and their energy are often enough to get infected with the happy vibe. The best part no matter what is the stellar photo angles you have to capture the neon signs of Dotonbori! The whole cruise is only around 25 minutes and takes you to the up and down the river so you will see the bustling parts and the quiet quiant parts in one ride. I couldn't fully understand what the tour was saying, but I thoroughly enjoyed the cruise. I highly recommend taking this river cruise especially at nighttime for a complete Dotonbori experience!
