Tips for you
A truly hidden treasure until it was opened for public and tourism 4-5 years ago?? The house is still kept in fairly good condition and it is really a treasure. The entrance fees is Rph. 35.000 per person which I think is cheap as it is used to maintain and manage the house which I believe needs lots of money. The guided tour around the house provided by the family-management is also a good way to tell visitors about the history of the family however my guide yesterday told only about the Tjong A Fie's family and their life. It could have been more interesting if they could also tell us about the architecture, some of the displayed memorabilia etc etc, just two cents worth. They also open a boutique selling Kebaya Nyonyas (Peranakan Style), a cafe is also in the making they say. When I visited it was a Sunday afternoon, there was also a traditional dance performance at the courtyard. It was supplied and supported by local tourism office. This Mansion is really a treasure and at all cost it has to be kept in good condition. Government must pay more attention in preserving this kind of place.
A prominent home located in the heart of Medan City at Kesawan Square, this beautiful mansion is full of characters and cultures behind its history in Medan. Now, the mansion is opened to visitors.
