Owned by the same franchise as the Gallery Café, this is definitely the better option (unless you are a large group). I suspect it is the smaller size of the restaurant that allows more attention to the quality of the food, as opposed to Gallery where they are cranking out lots of meals all night long. Whatever it is, check out Tintagel instead. Not only was the food superior, but the atmosphere is too - especially if you know the political and architectural history of the compound. And get this: it was cheaper than Gallery Cafe, too! Service was a bit slow; most people probably want to linger, and Tintagel is a good place for that. Our tables tried at least 8 of the main dishes on the menu, and everyone was delighted. I've never had a chicken tikka so moist. Colleagues also raved over the seafood fettuccine, the baked crab, and the Thai pumpkin soup. After tasting each other's dishes, I didn't have room for desert but each of those looked so good. The homemade ice cream was highly recommended, as was the local ginger beer as a non-alcoholic drink option. One of the best ginger beers I've ever had. Speaking of drinks, for a corkage fee, Tintagel allows BYOB. This is particularly important if you are there on the monthly Poya (moon) holiday when liquor sales are restricted.
