The Island Fulidhoo is in the north of the Vavuu-Atoll. From the airport in Male you can go there by ferry (3,5h) or by speedboat (approx. 45min). The ferry costs about 4$/person, the speedboat 400$ per direction, depending on weather. You should have the ferry table in mind when you book the hotel and flight. There only goes one ferry on sunday, tuesday and thursday from Male to the island and on saturday, monday and wednesday from Fulidhoo to Male. The north of the island is closed to the atoll riff, the south is in the inner of the atoll. There is a bikini beach on the island but actually without any palms or trees which give shadow. Here they are planing to chance this. They have a health center (for small things), a pharmacy, a school, a mosque, two coffee bars which also serve food, three shops for daily needs and about 10-15 gift shops. The gift shops only open when the visitors from the resort island are coming to Fulidhoo. Actually there are 2 guesthouses with approx. up to 20 tourists maximum capacity. Three new guesthouses are planned and will be ready soon. The island is cleaned nearly every day but a lot of rubbish especially plastic bottles are washed ahsore. The rubbish is burned but in the 8 days we stayed on the island we couldn`t smell it. The guesthouse is in the north of the island and very close to the beach. When you take breakfast or dinner you can directly look on the ocean. The house has only three rooms which are cleaned every day. We had room No.2. The beds are good and there is air conditioning which works very well. The size of the room is enough for 2-3 people and there is a cupboard and a small table with mirror. The bathroom is also big enough. Only a slide bar is missing in the shower because you have to hold the shower head in your hands. There is also a heater which makes very fast warm water. Not all guesthouses on Maldives have rooms with their own bathroom. We were served by Halil and Mohammed. Mohammed cooked every day nice curries with rice or pasta and fish, chicken or beef. The taste was very good. Halil was preparing the excursions. We made a snorkling trip and a trip to picnic island. Both were great and well organized. We were lucky to see a huge school of dolphins on the way to picnic island. PIcnic island has a nice riff for snorkling. You should have in mind that the Maldives are an islamic country so you do not get any alcohol on the island. Also it is forbidden to wear bikini outside the bikini beach. For people who can accept this Fulidhoo is a good choice to relax and to snorkel. We would come back to the island and to the guesthouse because the service they provide was very good. They also arrange for you other guesthouse for cheaper prices than you book them normally in the internet. Just ask the reservation manager for his help.
