Why Thila is special ?

Formerly the ‘Ocean Grill’, the restaurant is constructed from distinctive materials such as lava stone, ceramic, travertine tiles and natural woods with blue finishings to compliment the nearby azure waters and cerulean skies.

The composition of Thila has been enhanced to allow unforgettable experiences for guests, with dining available on the beach front terrace, first floor dining balcony, an overwater open-air deck or set amongst the waterside palm trees, with your feet in the sand, each of these areas has its own remarkable views, looking out onto the Indian Ocean.

As vibrant as the underwater reefs of the Maldives, Thila offers a chic vibe, complimented with a striking modern interior, chilled ambience and a creative menu. The perfect venue for a truly romantic dinner under the stars, a refreshing and luxurious breakfast, or for savouring fresh cocktails and fiery Maldivian sunsets, by the sea.

There're several dishes you must try:

Wagyu steak (+2 score): USD 95

Angus fillet: USD 55

Thila Grill: eggs to your liking, garlic & thyme sautéed mushrooms, confit tomato, potato rosti, sourdough, sausage, pork bacon w. salsa verde

Tips for you

  • You should book the table in advance due to the restaurant is a bit crowded at night.
  • The restaurant opens from 8:00am to 11:00am for breakfast time and from 7:00pm to 9:30pm for dinner time.
  • The restaurant also offers many spots which you can enjoy the view of the sea, the fishes and the reef shark swim around while waiting for your food.
  • The restaurant offers free champagne for breakfast.
  • The best spot is the rooftop deck under the stars but there's also a semi-enclosed section of the rooftop with ceiling fans (this section overlooks the ocean directly).

An absolutely stunning setting. On the deck with beautiful lighting into the water enabling us to see baby reef shark and the occasional fish. The table setting was lovely- the menus also with little lights on them. We ordered the wagyu steak and Angus fillet. The wagyu was to absolute die for. However the potatoe it came with on both plates were grainy and undercooked. The bread starter was stodgy and the peppercorn sauce a touch bitter and very under seasoned. The service was acceptable. You pay a lot for what you get- I absolutely do not mind splashing out on good food but the place was just a little short of the 5/5 for us.
