Why The UN Irish Pub is special ?

The UN Irish Pub and Restaurant is not your stereotypical Irish Pub. While it’s got Guinness on tap, and it’s a great place to go for St. Patrick’s Day, there is little in the way of tacky theming. It’s run by an Aussie and is a great place to hang out, in particular if you’re a sports fan. Wander in any time and there will be a plethora of sports on the t.v. from football to formula 1, and from cricket to rugby. There are four rooms for showing sporting events, two upstairs and two downstairs, which means if the game you want to see isn’t on when you walk in, you’ll likely find it on upstairs!

The UN Irish Pub also boasts a Quiz Night every Thursday, so it’s a great place for Trivia buffs too. While there is no pool table, there is a dart board upstairs, as well as a small beer garden. The low seats on the balcony overlooking the road provides a great spot for people watching.

How to get to The UN Irish Pub?

The U.N. Irish Pub has a great location, inside the moat on Ratchawithi (Ratvithi on Google Maps) Road. Finding it is easy, assuming you get on the right road. From Thapae Gate head north along the inside of the moat, turn left at the first main street and it’s on the right after a couple of hundred metres.

Ok - so the service started a little slow, we were the only people sat outside, so forgivable! We visited for a taste of home and a good fried breakfast - we definitely got what we wanted! The big breakfast was absolutely excellent - quite possibly the best I have ever had! And included home made bread as your toast. Nipping back to the loo - you can actually see the kitchen staff making bread and pasties for the day ahead. At 210 baht it was a little on the prices side at a conversion to £4.20 - but well worth it, and included a tea or coffee! Highly recommend!
