Why The Sugar Palm is special ?

Opened in 2006 in the Taphul Road in Siem Reap. the restaurant is set on the upper floor. There are bamboo blinds that can be opened to show the gardens and allow the outside world to enter, or they can be closed when the weather turns inclement.

The dining space seats 90 in comfort. We also have an extended bar area, where you can be entertained while you wait for a table, or have a pre-dinner cocktail. Every aspect was carefully thought about with you, the diner, in mind.

For starters:

Crispy Spring Rolls – Pork mince, prawn and vegetables, wrapped in rice paper and deep fried. The traditional starter for Khmer meals.

Khmer Chicken Satay – Marinated chicken pieces, skewered, pan-seared & served with a thick peanut sauce. Traditionally associated with Indonesian cooking this is the Khmer version.

Pomelo Salad – Pomelo mixed with sliced pork, dried shrimp, silver noodles and mint; topped with our special dressing. It’s very refreshing and has a slightly unusual citrus flavour.

For main courses:

Khmer curry – We offer a choice of meats or a vegetarian option in our special curry with eggplant, sweet potatoes, beans and onion. It’s spicy but in a very pleasant way.

Fish Amok – Freshwater fish, steamed with a lightly spiced blend of coconut cream and steamed vegetables. If any single dish says “Cambodia”, this one has to be the real classic.

Chargrilled eggplant – Grilled eggplant topped with minced pork stir-fried with oyster sauce. A delicious if slightly unusual Cambodian speciality.

“great food and great service” I had heard how good this Restaurant was and thought I would try it out for myself. I was not disappointed at all. The atmosphere and surrounds were great and the service exceptional. I would definitely recommend the fish amok as well as many of the other Khmer dishes on the menu...everything was made with the freshest of ingredients, well presented and very tasty. I dined here a few nights during my stay in Siem Reap,..yes it was that good. The Staff were very friendly, professional and efficient. I would recommend Sugar Palm as one of the "must visit Restaurants" in Siem Reap.
