This is my third visit to The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, and was not disappointed. This last visit, I got a combination 50-minute Therapeutic Massage + 45-minute Recovery Head Massage (which involves the application of a warm herbal poultice over your entire back/neck/shoulder area). Since there are only 4 treatment rooms, they can't really accommodate too many guests at a time, and during that visit, I was pretty much the only guest at the spa.The spa is located on the top floor of the hotel. The decor is Thai-inspired, with dark teak furniture and intricate carvings. Upon arrival, you are presented with spa slippers and led up a spiral staircase to the main treatment area, where you are served a steaming pot of sweet-spicy ginger tea (absolutely delicious!).In the past, I got a foot bath prior to treatment, but this time around, they just served me the tea. Not sure if it was because I did an a-la-carte combo instead of selecting from one of the available spa packages. Thus, the 4 star rating.... didn't feel like I got the full experience with the omission of this one little extra.I was assigned a private room, complete with an en-suite bathroom, large shower, and two massage tables. They also provided a basket-full of amenities including shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, shower cap, Q-tips, and disposable undies. The pace was completely unhurried, so I was at the spa well beyond 2 hours. My therapist gave me privacy as I showered and prepared for my massage, and knocked softly when it was time to begin. I had just come from a 16 hour flight, so all my muscles were in knots. My therapist used her knuckles, thumbs and elbows to get all of the kinks out, and I left the spa completely rejuvenated.Definitely worth a visit if you are in Makati.

I love this spa! Instant relaxation in the middle of crowded and heavy-traffic Makati. One visit will leave you relaxed and tranquil for another week of stress in the office. A must for those travelling on business, those who need pampering and a bit of peace. After the treatment/s, sit back and relax for a cup of tea or two in their lounge.
