The Moon Restaurant, or also known as "Be Kind to Animals the Moon", is an original among the couple of vegetarian restaurants clustered near Tharabar Gate. This place offers a friendly welcome and delicious food including pumpkin and ginger soup, aubergine curry and a lime and ginger tea that the owners claim is good for stomach upsets.
This little open-air veggie cafe is located on a dirt road north of the Ananda Temple, just off the old main road. You'll see a sign on the main road directing you. Offers a variety of choices. One seasonal specialty is the papadum with guacamole. Not to be missed, with a nice large Myanmar beer.

Tips for you
Really liked this place very good vegetarian food and they make the best coconut milkshake I have ever tasted. It's location by Anander Temple just outside the walls of old Bagan places it well in the heat of the historical centre. Service is snappy and thoughtful. There is a lovely vibe about the place and it's something a bit different. This area is short on Indian food so happy to find veggie curries and chapatti here. The portions are a bit small which could make your order bigger and the bill the more expensive.
