I had noted the name of this restaurant on my map of Chiangmai but only decided to go there after our driver was unable to locate 2 other vegetarian restaurants that were on my list. And what a blessed surprise it was to enter this gorgeous restaurant on a hot afternoon and sink into a cushy seat laden with plush cushions. I was deliriously happy but then became concerned about what the prices would be like. Fortunately, prices were not over the top. We ordered the tom ka kai (very good and generous amount), fried fillet of sea bass with green peppercorns (excellent), stir fried mixed vegetables (fresh and good) and chicken with cashew nuts (very tasty and good). We appreciated the fact that they had brown rice as an option. We look forward to dining at The House again sometime and therefore have our hearts set on returning to Chiangmai.
Popped in to The House recently and selected a few salads, which were delicious. My favourite has to be the banana flower, lychee and prawn. They flavours were just so good I could not stop eating. The Thai beef salad, lots of freshly cooked beef, chillies and lemon grass - very spicy, my mouth was on fire but could not leave any of it.Roast duck, orange and fennel, also very good. Also ordered a portion of chicken satay, which did not taste as if they had been cooked fresh. For dessert I ordered the berry and Apple crumble with vanilla cream. I love this dessert but could not eat it: obviously too long in the microwave and it was still too hot to eat after leaving it to cool for ten minutes.Service if attentive, not overpowering or intrusive.
A nice treat if you are in Chiang Mai, food nice, decor superbe. We enjoyed our dinner there! we recommend to go for the starters , there you really see different dishes than the other thai restaurants you usually eat at during your trip
