Why The Helix Bridge is special ?

This 280-metre pedestrian linkway – the longest in Singapore – features a world’s first ‘double-helix’ structure. Inspired by the yin and yang concept in Asian culture, the architecturally unique bridge is said to bring wealth, happiness and prosperity to Marina Bay. The Helix Bridge is an engineering feat assembled with great precision. Its curved design is created by two opposing spiral steel members, held together by a series of connecting struts, symbolising “life and continuity”, “renewal”, “everlasting abundance” and “growth”,  and resembles the structure of DNA.

This bridge connects the marina mall and the area around suntac convention centre. It is build from stainless steel and surely a brilliant piece of design and engineering. The welding and bolt connections are very impressive and done in excellent workmanship.

This bridge connects the Marina Bay Sands to the other side of the Marina bay area. It lights up after dark and stay lighted till late. Both ends of the bridge are good photo spots at night. It is also a nice place to take a stroll after dinner to avoid the tropical heat of the day.

This really is more than just a bridgeYes, you can walk from one side to the other, so it is a bridge. However, when every other person is taking a photo of it, it becomes a cracking piece of modern artThe bridge is very shiny which appealed to me, please it save me walking all the way around the marina!I wouldn’t say this is a 'must-see', but it really is pretty funky

I've only walked across two other bridges in my life.. The Brooklyn bridge and the Golden gate bridge.. The Brooklyn bridge has it's history but not beauty. The Golden Gate bridge has it's beauty and The Helix Bridge.. well it has it's own DNA structure .. literally. The bridge has it's beauty in a modern kind of way. It's best to come here at night when it's all lit up and you can enjoy the view of the marina. Keep in mind that in Singapore you can't just wave your hand for a taxi. You have to go to a taxi stop. so if you cross this bridge FROM the hotel you are pretty much walking to you next destination. If you want a taxi walk back to the hotel
