Why The giant catfish farm is special ?

Very close to Ao Nang lies this gem (about 10 minutes’ drive) . This is one of its kind experiences in Krabi. The Catfish Farm has giant ponds and aquariums with a facility to feed the fish by the visitors themselves. It is a great activity to do with family especially kids and a relaxing one too. There are a lot of interesting creatures to feed and it is a delight to photograph them whille they come up at the surface to eat the food. There are giant crocodiles here as well and if one is looking just to relax by the riverside then this place is just a perfect one.

What to explore at The giant catfish farm?

There are swing bridges to add to the fun. Many of the plats, flower and trees are labeled. There is a wild orchid display with the famous Luang Krabi orchid and other rare orchids there are also, crocodile turtles and local insects, like the Thai forest scorpions that you can see. After your nature walk you can relax in the river side restaurant or swimming in two of the natural “Jacuzzi” like pools. A great place for adults and children of all ages.

Like a trip to the jungle – all the jungle’s attractions condensed to a small place. After paying a small amount of 50 Bahts at the entrance, you get fish food, and enter this great place. Feed the huge fish, walk between ponds and streams, cross some wood bridges, and see a hut in the woods. You can bath in a small water fall, and plenty of small surprises especially for kids. Made with a lot of love and care for preserving the nature. Very recommended for families

This week my grand daughters met and petted Honey a, 2 month old lamb who just arrived and is making friends with RosĂŠ the little monkey who loves to try to ride around on her back. Honey is the prettiest lamb I have ever seen, mulit coloured with a little white patch shaped like a heart.Songkran was great fun for the adults as well as kids at the Catfish FarmBring swimsuits for your children when u visit, arm bands etc for non swimmers of course, they can swim in the fresh water, hang from the ropes, cool off and have some fun. You can have a fresh coffee, an ice cream or cold drink watching them from the balcony in the shadeMy grand children never tire of the Catfish Farm as there is always something new to see, new fish in Aquarians, a new turtle etc. many tree/plant species for them to learn about, labelled in Thail and English. For 50 bt for an adult and less for children, this has got to be the best value for children to see so much nature in one area.We are off to see Honey and Rose again today to see how they are bonding.Emily and Mai Pai, the daughters of Nina and PI Chi are taking care of Honey, n watching she doesn't wander off from her new home

incredible ! I was expecting everyone on tripadvisor to cry out about the terrible conditions most of these animals are housed in ... but no-one seems to even think about that ? they just think it was fun to see crocodiles ( in a concrete box where they can barely turn around in ), bobcats ( in a rusty cage with the roof half-collapsed ), tropical fish in aquariums where you could barely see through the glass so dirty. The only animals that are kept in an acceptable way are the catfish, in large ponds. They should really stick to their name, CATFISH FARM, and offer those catfish ponds ONLY, and remove everything else without delay, it is a true outrage and would be shutdown within days if this was done in any Western country. Macabreis the word indeed out there ! And it is almost equally shocking that none of the posters here seemed particularly bothered by it.
