Why The Gallery Restaurant is special ?
Hillary Clinton has been known to frequent the Gallery when in Chiang Mai. The gallery, accompanied by a fine dining restaurant, is a truly unique place that combines the beauty of art and crafts with the art of cooking. Unmistakable, the neon-lit sign that sits outside immediately draws you in from the street to what appears to be a treasure trove of goods. Housed in one of the oldest wooden structures in Chiang Mai – it is thought to have been built in 1892. Try one of the curries on the menu, spiced up to your taste, the fish also comes highly recommended too.

Reviews
A restaurant by the river with a beautiful view is by definition a sure bet for a romantic dinner, and mostly that is what you can get a Gallery.Their huge menu (172 dishes without mentioning desserts) offers an option for every individual, whether it is something on the grill to Pad Thai. Given you waste a lot of time surfing through the menu, I would hope for the restaurant in the future to reduce it substantially.Drinks are OK and quite classic in their preparation.Service is polite but very slow (in our case is was surprising since when we went the restaurant must have been at less than 20% capacity). We highly recommend to try norther n preparation here and to enjoy a lovely evening by the river.Bear in mind it is advisable to have bug spray as you are eaten next to the river, filled with all those little friends willing to leave a mark on you.Prices are fair, about 600 bath (USD 19) per person considering an appetizer, main dish and a couple drinks.
You pass through a small gallery to reach the restaurant, which is right along the Ping river. Evening was nice, with candles, live quiet Thai music, no rush. Food was typical thai, good, not outstanding Service started well but then disappeared, not sure why. Nice view of river and lighted bridge....a few mosquitos - wear socks and long pants.
One of the few CM restaurants on the river- with an awesome, romantic quiet view at night! We tried the Riverside first, but they were all full. Good view was so noisy! This place was empty except the first row along the river, though really every table would have been A+.Really can't understand that, as the place was incredible! Food was excellent, and just a little more expensive than I might pay for a meal at a local restaurant with no view. Food was A+. Total was 1600 baht for 5 people, including 3 amazing deserts. Try the mango snitzel and ice cream desert- just fantasic! Wish I lived near this place- I'd love to go there often! Honestly, I read some negative reviews below, and I think there are some people who would find fault with heaven if they ever got there... Incidentally, they've got a weird website- when you go there you get a switch like a light switch, and when you click on it, it goes dark. Don't know what weirdo put that up, but the place itself is terrific.
