Why The Elephant Training Center Chiang Dao is special ?
Chiang-Dao Chiang Mai Elephant Training Center was founded in 1969 and was one of the first elephant camps in Chiang Mai. The Chiang-Dao Chiang Mai Elephant Training Center has one of the most beautiful natural settings in Chiang Mai surrounded by small hills and the Ping River running through it year round. Manas Yaviraj was the founder of the elephant training center, which he started by renting three elephants from neighboring Karen hill tribes to showcase to tourists elephants’ working skills such as teak logging.

A well maintained and run camp. Small in comparison to some others but it added to the experience, didn't feel like a tourist rush job. The elephants are well cared for, the price is good and the ride is amazing. Through the jungle and across the stream. You cross a suspension bridge to get there, that was fun, the elephants are relaxed and hanging around, they take them for a bath, which they loved, then a short show of their intelligence and strength and then a ride for as long as you like. You can take a river rafting ride from here but we skipped that. Great bathroom facilities here but a limited beverage option, mainly because of its size and smaller tourist numbers, plenty of food down the road so no issue. Great camp.
One of the best experiences ever. What a fantastic day out. The elephants are so well looked after. They put on a little show for us before we went on a trek for an hour and a half which was so lovely. There were only 2 couples on the trek and the scenery was just fabulous. After that we went bamboo rafting down the river for an hour or so. Would highly recommend a visit to this elephant park. Far exceeded my expectations.
