Why Temple of the Lotus Blossoms is special ?
What to explore at Temple of the Lotus Blossoms?
The You Bo and Khmer writer Association's headquarter are located here. It is nearby the Royal Palace and Cambodia-Vietnam Monument. Come in through the back gate on street 19 after visiting the National Museum. From the back gate, you can see many homeless Cambodians sleeping nearby the gate. The temple is colorful and newly painted. There are several residence houses inside the compound. In front of the Temple, there are many colorful stupa to commemorate important politicians and monks of Cambodia.

Tips for you
Wat Botum, or the Temple of the Lotus Blossoms, is a big complex with several separate temple buildings, stupas and other buildings, including a school. While there were no signs in English, the gates were open so I took a walk through. Expect to see monks at rest in the complex, going about their business or just sitting in shadow out of the daytime heat. It was an interesting and stress-free insight into a Cambodian temple. Well worth a look, especially as Wat Botum is nice and close to the Royal Palace. The are no ticket offices, no entry fee and no guards watching your every move - a nice change!
