Why Tawaen Beach is special ?
Of the several beaches on Koh Lahn, Tawaen Beach is the most popular, in this case my definition of popular refers to being populated. Somewhere beneath the throngs of people and the regimented rows of deck chairs and loungers which again lie beneath a sky of parasols, there is a stunningly beautiful beach. The backdrop is beautiful forested hills which form a very picturesque bay, the water is clear and shallow, and the sand is soft and fine.
Having clean shallow water and soft fine sand Tawaen Beach is vastly superior to most of the beaches in Pattaya, there’s lots of room for children to paddle, fall over, or simply chill out.
Lots of little beer bars and restaurants line the pathway behind the beach, ideal if you like to sit and watch life go by, but the only view you’ll get of the beach from here is through the mass of bodies and forest of parasols.
What to explore at Tawaen Beach?
Tawaen Beach is an ideal place for water Sports. There are a variety of activities you can embark on for example swimming, jet Ski, speed boats, parasailing relaxing under the umbrella, eating, drinking or go for a ski ride, volley ball, awesome shacks with seafood. The ferry fare to Ko Larn is so cheap should go ahead with this attraction to see how the island looks like
Always go to the right side which is quiet, crystal clear water and a proper lounger, not a sun deck. If you come early, you will get the best spot.
Book your own boat it will cost you around 2800 bath.

Koh Laan, Pattaya, Thailand
Tips for you
- The best and economical way to reach there is by a speed boat. The boat journey starts from Bali Hai Pier Pattaya which costs 20 Baht each way and tickets can be bought from the ticket booth. -The boat traffic is quite noisy, if you would rather listen to the soothing sound of the waves breaking on the shore instead of the gurgles and screams of speed boat engines, head further up the beach in the direction of the ferry terminal.Transportation
- You have a variety of options like scuba diving, parasailing, banana boat ride etc. for the ones who don't want to try the water sports can still go there for shopping and sunbathing - The beach on the right side of the jetty looks quiet and clearer than that in the left which was crowded.Things to do
Food and drink is expensive, especially if vendors are fetching it to your chair or lounger, seems like they are adding a large percentage to the price. If you are going to order from a vendor, ask for a menu with prices and confirm the price before you order. Even better, go and eat in one of the restaurants behind the beach before you hire a chair.Food
I went there by ferry from South Pattaya. It takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour to be at the island. The beach is really nice and the sea is very clear. If you are alone traveller, you can keep your stuffs in the locker. There are some lockers for rent. The food is not so bad but the atmosphere is more important. The price is of course higher than you can find in Pattaya. There are many western travellers at this beach so don't worry that the local people at the beach can't speak English 'coz they can! In case you would like to stay over night, there're also some resorts to stay.
