Why Tamblingan Twins Lake is special ?

Tamblingan Lake is a beautiful lake located on the north slope of Mount Mortar, Munduk, Buleleng, Bali. This lake is one of the three twin lakes that formed in a large caldera. To the east there is a row of Lake Buyan and Lake Beratan. On the edge of the Tamblingan Lake there is a Gubug Temple. As Lake Tamblingan lies 1,000 meters above sea level, the climate here is cool. The early morning mist that hangs over the waters strangely enhances its mystical appeal. By Lake Tamblingan near Lake Buyan along the south-north highway live a host of monkeys. These multiply so fast, that they are often called the teeming monkeys of the jungle.

We're staying in Ubud and it took us 1 hour and a half to get there (we left our guest house at 4am to be there in time for the sunrise). I advise you to arrive as early as possible, since the fog (that gives such a magical and special feeling to that place) is much more intense in the first hours of the day. Don't forget to bring a coat, because it gets very chilly there. We didn't have to pay anything to enter, but a ride on the boat costs 400.000 Rph, which is too expensive in my opinion! So we didn't feel like doing it. The sunrise light and the fog look stunning in pictures. There were at least 3 couples doing their pre-wedding photoshoot there. I was wearing flip flops and my feet got all dirty with mud. There is garbage everywhere. It's a pitty.. But we really enjoyed watching the sunrise in Tamblingan lake. It was totally worth it!
