Why Ta Prohm is special ?
Ta Prohm is as seductive as Lara Croft. The site of some of her cinematic adventures, it is a series of dark galleries and pillars held hostage under the iron clasp of gigantic roots. The walls are decorated with carvings of sensuous celestial nymphs with smaller roots crawling across them like a rash.
Built in AD 1186 by King Jayavarman VII, the temple was dedicated to his mother. In its prime it was a holy trunk of great treasures. According to the Sanskrit inscriptions on the walls, the temple held thousands of pearls, precious stones and golden dishes weighting more than 500kg.

A temple hundreds of years old, with great trees thousands of years old. Together they make a great scenic presentation.
Самый необычный из храмов. Торопитесь увидеть, пока не вырубили корни деревьев, проросшие сквозь стены... Знаменит съемками Лары Крофт:) энергетика волшебная!
This temple is known not just for its beauty but because Tombraider movie was filmed here. Restoration jobs in progress, you can witness the difference between the destroyed and restored parts.
Our guide continued to refer to this temple as Tomb Raider - sorry never seen the movie! The incredible fig trees growing around and through this temple makes it unique, an incredible sight. It's great to see the restoration work being done at the temples by so many different countries.
This was our favourite park. Our guide told us to have early lunch so we arrived at 1230 and the hords we leaving .. And we were the only ones arriving. We go in there and only saw perhaps 10 Other people ... AMAZING!! So no one to stand in our photos ... Then at 130 pm there were hords again coming in so we left .. Because I think especially the big tour buses have set times for lunch around noon. The photo ops were fantastic here
This was one of my most favorite travel locations in the world. The ancient temple has been partly reclaimed by nature with giant trees growing from the roofs of the temple buildings. I'm so thankful I was able to squeeze this visit in; i would have been devastated to have missed it!
This is a massive sprawling monastic complex which only has been partially cleared of the encroaching jungle. It has been left intentionally unrestored, cosidering the amount of massive fig and silk-cotton trees growing from the towers and corridors offering a 'jungle atmosphere' and some of the best
