All-you-can-eat cake buffet? I felt like all my dreams had come true. There's no equivalent of Sweets Paradise in the USA, where the buffet focuses on the desserts rather than the entrees. I was so excited for a huge variety of cakes, and I was not disappointed! From classics like strawberry shortcake to more unusual options, like a grape cake (my favorite), the choices were almost overwhelming. Japanese cakes are light and not too sweet, so you can eat a lot without feeling very heavy. Make sure to take only a little if you're just trying out a cake, and then return for a larger piece if you really liked it. It seems like most people here finish everything on their plates (probably a cultural thing), but you don't want to fill up on cakes you weren't that fond of, or end up furtively scraping your plates into the trash like me! I didn't realize that Sweets Paradise would have real food, like sandwiches, salad, curry rice, and pasta. It was a pleasant surprise, ensuring that you can have a light meal before gorging on dessert, or if you want to go with someone who doesn't share your obsession with cake. The drink bar is included, too, so you can have unlimited coffee, tea, and sodas with your meal. I particularly enjoyed their tea selection. This location is close to Umeda station, right around the corner of HEP Five. It's around 1500 yen (~$15 USD) for 90 minutes - plenty of time to enjoy a light lunch and plenty of cake in a cute atmosphere! There's no other place that allows you to try as many desserts at such a low cost, so it's definitely worth it.
