Why SunnyHills restaurant is special ?
Sunnyhills is situated in a quite corner of the Ming Shen community. Once you enter the shop, you’ll be greeted by a waiter who will seat you at a table and offer you a complementary piece of their famous pineapple cake, along with a cup of tea. They are so proud and confident of their pineapple cakes that they aren’t shy about sharing it with the world! This rising star of a bakery has shops in Japan, Shanghai and Singapore, and if you’ve ever tried one of their pineapple cakes, it’s not hard to see why people are crazy about it. The jam filling is fibrous and zesty, with a very natural fruity acidic flavor. The crust is very crumbly, with pieces tumbling off with every bite, but that won’t stop you from picking up the crumbs and stuffing it back in your mouth!

Reviews
No need for advertisements, they have great pineapple cakes that are not too sweet and they are confident to offer every patronizing customer that walks in a cup of tea and a piece of pineapple cake. You may choose to not buy if you dont like it and you dont have to pay for their tryout. Unsure if its limited to one per pax. Their place is clean and neat, even the toilets. Cakes are slightly pricey, depending on personal taste buds, its worth it for me! Purchased both times I am in taiwan! :)
Be prepared to walk or take a taxi from the MRT as Sunnyhills is a bit of a trek and off the Tourist tracks. But it is well worth it, think of an upscale tea house with beautiful wood and tranquil seating in the heart of residential Taipei. You are greeted by a host who will seat you (hopefully with no wait) at some of the community tables or a few individual seating areas. Tea and a Sunnyhills Pineapple cake quickly appear for your consumption. There is no ordering and no bill/charge. After you have enjoyed this (or secretly pocketed the wrapped cake to take home), you could walk right out...OR continue to the counter to make your purchase. They have the famous cake (best in Taiwan!) coming in packs of 10 (42 NT each) or 15 in a beautiful box with a SunnyHills carrying bag. When I did my survey of what I suggest are the top 2-3 brands, I didn't think SunnyHills was any more expensive than the others. This is the Hermes of Pineapple Tarts with beautiful presentation and carrying bag. Plus you get the wonderful dining experience and a free one to try or take home! Enjoy!!!
When you walk in, you're greeted with smiling faces and if you don't want to order a box of cakes immediately, you'll be directed to the "sampling" area. Enjoy the free sample of pineapple cake & tea
