Why Subic Bay is special ?

Subic Bay is a sea-side area on the western side of Luzon island in Zambales province within the region of Subic Bay. Subic Bay is a former US naval base that was converted into a beach town in the broader proximity of Manila. The main industry is the free port zone, ship building and support to vising US Navy vessels.

The Subic Bay Freeport Zone is now well on its way in becoming an economic, commercial and tourist destination. The Subic Bay Freeport is booming with international class restaurants and duty free shopping. The coastal area is surrounded by mountains with lush impenetrable jungles, ideal for trekking.

What to explore at Subic Bay?

The bay is dotted with navy ships, while the main strip glitters with newly refurbished bars and restaurants. The bay is quiet during the day with a few retired US sailors enjoying lazy lunches, but comes alive at night with live music and performances.

People go purely to escape Manila and to discover Zoobic, which is reported to be the best Safari nearby. However, there are plenty of water sports as well as wreck dives in the area.

You can stay at The Lighthouse which is a beautiful hotel at the end of the bay offering gorgeous food and a chilled out vibe.

The Zoobic Safari will not disappoint you. The three hour tour is informative and lots of fun and there are plenty of opportunities to interact with the animals and to try your hand at the local tribal skills.

The interactive and conservation spirit of Zoobic will have your kids thoroughly entertained and informed of all creatures great and small.

As well as Zoobic Safari there is also nearby Ocean Adventure theme park, where you can swim with dolphins and the Kabayo horse riding stables in the area.

Take the Northern Expressway to the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway(SCTEx), then exit a few kilometers past the Angeles toll booth. Take the SCTEx in the direction of Subic. The SCTex merges with the Tipo expressway and further into the Subic Bay Freeport zone.

From the Olongapo City bus terminal, a quick jeepney ride ride can be used to get to Subic Bay. The city’s jeeps and tricycles here are color-coded,representing specific routes.

At the Main Gate is a terminal of buses that can take you to various points inside the freeport. Coasters and min-buses are also available at any time to ferry you to your accommodateions. Taxi vans are another option, but they are more expensive than buses or coasters.
