Why Su Causeway is special ?
Su Causeway is an achievement of Su Dongpo when he was a governor in Hangzhou in Southern Song Dynasty. He found the lake surface was dried up, so he petitioned to dig the lake in order to provide water to fish-raising, drinking, irrigation and transport. In memory of the great politician and poetry, people named it Su Causeway.
Spring Dawn at Su Causeway is the first site in West Lake scenic area for visitors to see. There are six arched stone bridges spanning the lake: Ripples Reflection Bridge, Locking Waves Bridge, Viewing Hill Bridge, Suppressing Dike Bridge, Eastern Lakeside Bridge, and Crossing Rainbow Bridge.
Enjoying a well-known reputation of the main scene of the Ten Scenes in West Lake, Spring Dawn at Su Causeway is a must-see for visitors to explore the grace of West Lake and enjoy the romantic Hangzhou travel.

Perfect benches alongside the way. if you want a rest: just sit on them. But if you don't want to rest, you don't have to sit. Problem is only, when you want to sit, but they are already taken.
From the map it seems very long. But worthwhile to walk across. Many local people walk there for exercise. Also very good view for the lake.
for a crazy thing, go and see the sunrise in hangzhou, here would be a good place, for couples, you could just sit on the chair alongside the lake, enjoying every single moment facing the beautiful lake
I visited Hangzhou on one of its hottest days on record so activity was going to be hot. At least Sudi is 80% in the shade with numerous willows and other trees flanking the path. Not many people ride their bikes along here (at least when I went) and the yellow elongated golf carts are driven with care. I walked South to North. The contrast of the lotus pools on the left and the city views on the right is cool. It is a relaxed place and a really pleasant 2800m stroll.
