Why Stormies is special ?

Stormies is a favourite of many revelers in Hong Kong providing a fully themed venue at the top corner of D'Aguilar Street Lan Kwai Fong. The interior mimics that of a ship with a floor made up of wooden teak planks, folding windows around the front half of the venue, brass bar top and many props such as cabin clocks, barometers placed around. There is a second floor in Stormies which as you walk up you will see a large 4 foot model of the Shamrock 1 yacht from the 1980 America's Cup. Sitting upstairs allows you to gain a birds eye view of Hong Kong nightlife district while you enjoy your drink sitting at the window side.

What to explore at Stormies?

The weekends are packed full and when you see people drinking in the main street, they are most likely spilling out from Stormies.

You can enjoy a lot of foods there. An extensive menu of seafood, ribs, salads, pastas and sandwiches is available. For a light bite, sandwiches like the Stormies Club or Stormies Classic Burger are perfect.

We chose Stormies as a meeting place and first stop for a movie night out, as we were going to see the new James Bond we needed somewhere with a bit of style and splash. The location in Elements is in an area known as Civic Square which is a circle of restaurants and bars surrounded by high rise and very high priced apartment blocks dominated by the ICC the tallest building in Hong Kong.We had not reserved and on a Friday night the place was jumping even so the very helpful staff found us a table to settle at with a promise to move us as our party of nine slowly gathered. We ordered white wine and fruit cocktails for the ladies but for the men there could only be one drink and that was of course a very dry martini shaken not stirred, the first attempt didn't quite make it but the bartender quickly replaced them with truly dry martinis and all was well. The atmosphere the noise and the fantastic location combined to make a great experience and the snacks we ordered were so good that we had to take care not to spoil the dinner that was to follow.I highly recommend this place for drinks, food and service, the staff could not possibly have been more helpful or courteous. As Gen. McArthur said "I shall return"

Stanley is were westerns visit when homesick. More North American stores, restaurants and shops. One small market with overpriced junk. On the boardwalk there are a few inexpensive places to grab lunch, but more non-Chinese locals here. You don't need to spend more than a couple of hours here. There is a beach with clean sand, but locals advise of not swimming in the water.
