All of the reviews are correct here...this trip over the water is excellent.Yes get the correct change, yes it looks and is old, and YES the experience is worth it!Within 15 minutes you are over the other side and enjoyed the harbour.I would recommend this trip!
I recommend riding the ferry at least once. It's very cheap, but you need exact change I believe. It's 2.80 for the top deck and 2.50 for the bottom (hk dollars). There's quite a bit of history and the views of the harbor are very beautiful. Purchasing the tickets is simple. You just go to the pier and purchase them there. I bought mine using the ticket machines.
Star Ferry was quick and unbelievably inexpensive to get to HK Island. It was frustrating that you had to go to HK Island to get to any other islands or locations by ferry. But, the Star Ferry is quick, inexpensive and there is food on both sides to make the wait more pleasant. Happy sailing!
