Why Spice Spirit (XiDan) is special ?
Spice Spirit attracts a young, affluent crowd that clearly doesn’t mind the wait for a table – reserving ahead is advised, even on weeknights.
The mouth numbing shuizhu yu (fish cooked in an oily, peppercorn-laden soup) is the must-order dish. Recommend to you the pleasingly light Chili Loves Chicken (xiao mijiao aishang xiao gongji), which pairs slightly browned, pre-fried chicken cubes with flavorsome bamboo in – you guessed it – chili oil. Also try the curry crab.
Must try dishes:
The mouth numbing shuizhu yu
The pleasingly light Chili Loves Chicken
The curry crab
Spicy frogs legs
Ribs wrapped in glutinous rice

Reviews
This is one restaurant that should not be missed. We took a chance on having lunch here, and we were not disappointed. We have nothing but praises for the food and the really, genuinely friendly and ultra-attentive staff. Though we were unable to speak in Chinese, the staff used a notebook with handwritten and selected English phrases to find out what we wanted. With every movement we made, it seemed that the staff sensed what we needed - from spoons & forks, disposable gloves (to help us eat shrimps), and water bowls (to lessen the spicy flavor of our meal). This restaurant is ready for tourists.
Great restaurants offering a modern take on sichaun cuisine. The menu is extensive and I recommend that any western traveller try eating at one of their chains what in China. The food is delicious but be warned the majority of dishes ate fairly spicy and of course loaded with a dial chain pepper/spice aroma.
