Si Ma Cai is a rural district of Lao Cai Province in the Northeast region of Vietnam. If Sa Pa’s well-worn tourist track and gung-ho hawkers have grown tiresome, Si Ma Cai offers an equally picturesque and more serene alternative.

How to get to Si Ma Cai District?
Visitors can get to Si Ma Cai by booking tours with a travel agent such as Sinh Cafe, Hanoi Toserco or Kim Cafe. The tours are normally for three to four days. The cost for a package tour is VND 1 - 1.2 million per person. Costs may be higher if the traveller wants a longer stay or to book a private tour.
By public transport: Travellers depart from Ha Noi by train in the evening and arrive in Lao Cai early the next morning. They then take a bus to Sa Pa, Bac Ha and Si Ma Cai.
