Tips for you
Awsome collection of handloom sarees with really nice colours....
I visited Selyn which is tucked away in a little corner on Fife Road. It is a fair trade shop which has attracted a lot of attention due to its reviving the love of handmade crafts and providing employment for rural women. A friend gifted me a beautiful necklace done entirely in thread and silver filigree beads with the Selyn label and I had made a mental note to visit the shop as it was so unusual and beautiful, I am glad I did. Their products are beautifully designed and well executed. I bought some stunning pieces of jewellery and a couple of tops., I'd have loved to buy a couple of sarees with embroidery but they were a little too expensive in Sri Lankan standards. Their silk-cotton tops were really comfortable and chic and the colour range is out of this world. They had a beautiful range of handmade toys and I loved the way they had used offcuts of the beautiful handwoven fabrics to make smaller gift items such as keyrings, scrunchies and little bags. The quality of their wares is very high. I've been a longstanding Barefoot customer but Selyn although doesn't have an extensive range as Barefoot is far more affordable and the quality is comparable. The service is excellent and not over the top. Its definitely going to be one of my stopovers during my next trip to Sri Lanka.
