Why Sarabha II Restaurant is special ?
Sarabha II Restaurant is one of the two Sarabhas back to back by the Tharabar Gate in Old Bagan, located away from the road. It’s a great midday resting point for shade and its range of food (Chinese, Thai, Burmese, western and pizza). The food is good, and cheaper than hotel restaurants, but best are the cold towels handed out to wipe the dust off your face.
Must try dishes :
Thai green chicken curry
Butter fish curry
Chicken Musaman curry with potatoes and peanuts
Stir fried pork with chili and hot basil
Tomato / onion / peanuts salad

Tips for you
Our driver took us to Sarabha II for lunch after a hot morning at the pagodas. We were so glad he did! We rested under the giant tree, and gazed with admiration at the menu. We were staying at a private home in Yangon, and the food for us this trip was very limited to what the home would cook up for us. I had a lovely Thai curry with chicken and noodles, and others fared well, too. The only complaints came from those who had decided to order the spaghetti bolognese. A foolish thing to order in Bagan, and they ended up ordering a new dish, and paying for both. We felt wonderfully refreshed as we headed back to the temples and a full day in Bagan.
Excellent food. We had beef stir fry with ginger and scallions, and green chicken curry. Royal red curry (pork) was OK.
