Why Sanlitun Village is special ?
Sanlitun has been in constant change and evolution since the end of the 20th century, when the city first committed itself to a policy of strong economic growth. Today, the neighborhood hosts a multitude of bars and nightclubs - both Chinese- and Western-oriented -as well as a number of large shopping malls filled with big name brands. Athletic wear brand Adidas has its largest store worldwide located in Sanlitun Village, and right next store lies Yashow (pronounced "yah-shoo"), a multi-level shop filled to the brim with vendors of cheap, custom, and counterfeit clothing, luggage, and other wares that attracts tourists willing to bargain hard for a good price.

Tips for you
Funny design of layout. Large crowd usually in Apple Store or the open square. Toilets are dirty, no soap, smelly, no tissues.
This Swire managed shopping complex is the heart of Sanlitun area. Great options on F&B with some of the most awarded restaurants in town. Very hip young shopping with many of the top sports and clothing brands. Great destination for meeting up with people. The other phase of this is a luxury part of the complex which is basically still not gotten off the ground.
It's a good shopping and restaurants area, but it's cool only when you went in Bejing several times ! It´s very good for dinner, go at party and do shopping ! But I think not all the tourists want go there, warning
My last stop after shopping at the famous 4-storey Yaxiu Market, is Sanlitun Village at the CBD Beijing. It took me 15 min to walk from the nearest train station line 2 (Dongsi Shitiao Station, walk 100 mts west then take bus 113, 115, 406...to take you to Sanlitun street). It has all local and international brands - Apple, Zara, Bauhaus, Superdry, etc. for tourists who've got money to spend. There are restaurants for formal dining and desserts too. One I had is Herbal Cafe's mango-jelly snow dessert. They have variety of meals too, but did not try them, maybe next time.I like the glass walled structure of the Sanlitun Village, how lights at night strike the walls reflecting bright colors and some stained glass walls. Love the effect.Taxis lined up in the streets are charging shoppers and tourists a high rate (at least 70 RMB any where within the city center) , with no meter. So better walk past the Sanlitun area to catch a metered taxi passing by to take you to your next destination, or best to take the bus going home or the subway (line 2 Dongsi Shitiao Station Exit A or line 10 Tuanjiehu Exit A).
