Saigon Bakery in Can Tho amazingly offers one of the best freshly baked breads I had in the country. They open from early morning sunrise to around 10 pm in the evening. And, they even have a small stall set up in front of the bakery, where they make fresh "Banh Mi", the typical Vietnamese bun sandwiches. Compared to other bakeries the bread has more consistency and is less fluffy. I missed bread with the right taste and consistency in Vietnam. It can indeed be difficult to find good bread outside of Hanoi or Saigon. It seems like many bakeries in Vietnam just use water and flour to bake, which makes the bread very light and taste like paper. Saigon bakery bread is really good and comes with full bread flavour. It reminds me of breads in France and Italy. So, if you miss the European style of bread, you should stop by here. They also offer pizza kind of snacks and all kinds of cakes. Those are more geared towards Vietnamese and often have a bit more of a sweet taste. The cakes are very colorful pieces of art and something for the eye. Though, they might be a bit oversweeted for the European taste. Overall, I can recommend the bakery one hundred percent to the International bread lover.
