Why Russian Market (Tuol Tom Poung Market) is special ?
Must try food
Nom banh chok -- Khmer noodles
The dish consists of noodles laboriously pounded out of rice, topped with a fish-based green curry gravy made from lemongrass, turmeric root and kaffir lime.
Things to buy
The Russian Market has a large selection of souvenirs, curios, antiques, carvings, Buddha statues, handicrafts, silks, fabrics, DVDs, inexpensive electronic goods, and many other things of interest to visitors. It is also the place to buy clothes at big discount prices. Jewellery and gemstones are big here, but as always, you need to be careful, and be aware of scams and fakes.

How to get to Russian Market (Tuol Tom Poung Market)?
Located in the south of the city off Monivong Boulevard and Mao Tse Tung, the market is about a 15-minute tuk tuk ride from riverside. Before you dive in to the bustle of stalls, it’s worth noting which entrance you are using, especially if you hope to meet your driver again. Look for an easily recognisable landmark such as one of the big shops outside the market, or the fruit and vegetable stalls. That way, if you exit in a different direction, you can walk around the outside of the market until you get your bearings.

Reviews
the best part of it for me was the outer side of the market, lot of fuit and quick food to grab along the way, in the middle of if you can eat as a local simple and genuine food that gives you a glimpse of what the country is about. Also good, if you need to change money you have the best rates just near the market in the jewelry shops
It's everything an asian market should be - crazy mix of live chickens and tourist tat. Best to stop by as soon as you arrive to take photos & buy the ubiquitous Cambodian pants everyone wears here then pick out what you want to come back for on your last day to take home as souvenirs & gifts. Scarves are always good gifts!
Make sure your haggling skills are up to scratch here- lots of great bargains to be made! Keep searching around as you can find any design of clothes, bowls, paintings.. Don't pay more than $2/2.5 for trousers and get bargains on great souvenirs. You can literally find anything you need in this indoor market- it's very hot in there so be prepared! Visit Mr Bounneth (spelling wrong) in the food market part- he has loads of photos and articles dangling from his stand and he sells lovely iced coffee for $1 renowned "best iced coffee in Phnom Penh" they give you extra shots etc for free!
The russian market needs to be explored a couple of times. You can find many gems there. If you have a weak stomach, stay clear of the food area. The smell can be rather unpleasant.
