Tips for you
Enjoy the traditional art of making a pewter bowl at the Royal Selangor School of Hard Knocks, now at RM60. Oh don't forget to personalise it by stamping the bowl with your initials.
I love their malay girl tour guide, very friendly also (Y)
Cheesecake in thecafe is surprisingly good.
A substantial retail space with a wide array of pewter gifts and homeware.
Totally Free. Pleasant tourguide services. However overall, its an average experience on the tour. The tour guides are good and they offer mutiple language touring too. I was very glad that I manage to get a vietnamese tourguide (free service). For those who are interested in pewter production, this will definitely be a beneficial visit. There is also opportunity to try yourself on pewter making experience in the factory which comes with a reasonable charge. Tour ends in the souvenir shop selling all pewtwe items.
The museum is very interesting and the items they create here are amazing- wouldn't be my first choice to see if I only ha a couple days but we had 3 so we went. Guides are very friendly and the history of how the company started is interesting
The Cafe is open from 9am to 5pm. Nice homely food. Local and Western
The Pewter Factory tour is pretty nice. They provide a guide to take you through the building and let you take pictures of whatever you want. It is really neat seeing the old pewter work and then being able to watch demonstrations of how items are fashioned now. The guide tells you the history of the company and interesting facts about the manufacturing process. They give you a 'welcome drink' (100 Plus soda) so you can see how the pewter cups keep beverages cold. There is also the option of taking part in a workshop to make your own pewterware. At the end of the tour, there is a large gift shop gallery where you can see and buy much of their merchandise. You can take pictures, too, but don't take too many or they'll ask you to stop. Overall, this was a great place to visit and we enjoyed the hour we spent there.
