Tips for you
Located inside the mall connected to the train station, this place serves good okonomiyaki and looks like it's pretty popular between local people as it's very crowded and the line is long. Come early
There are a multitude of places to get okonomiyaki in Horoshim but this is one of the best and it is located in Hiroshima station so its very central. It does get busy and foriegners cant make bookings so my advice is to get there early.
You must eat okonomiyaki in Hiroshima! And Rei-chan's is the one we were recommended to by a local. Rei-chan's Okonomiyaki Restaurant is found in the second floor of the Asse department building at Hiroshima station. They serve the local specialty--okonomiyaki. Okonomiyaki literally means, "grilled as you like it." It's a savory pancake filled with vegetables (in this case cabbage and bean sprouts), egg, and bacon. You can choose other ingredients to go with it (like various types of seafood, soba noodles, or mochi--rice cake). The whole thing is then topped with a sweet and savory sauce that is irresistible! Add soba and shrimp/squid--it's soooo good! Rei-chan's seems to always have a line, but don't worry, it moves very quickly. English menus are available. It's a blast to sit at the counter and watch how everything is piled into one pancake! Extra sauce is available for those who wish a stronger flavor (they even have a spicy sauce available). It goes great with a cold beer for a relatively inexpensive lunch or dinner. When you are done, take your check to the register to pay. Simple, fast, and delicious!
