Tips for you
I've spent several of my Saturday nights on Beijing pub crawl now. It's nice because every week they mix up the combination of bars and clubs. It's a great way to not only see the diverse nightlife in Beijing and maybe get introduced to a chill bar you didn't know of before, but it's also a great mix of locals, expats and backpackers - so you meet someone new every time.
The sanlitun bar street is made for foreigners and their money, the prices are set just high enough that they know you will be willing to pay but not too expensive. There are guys outside every bar targeting the foreigners and on a few occasions they have even tried to physically force myself and my friends into the bar. If you are just staying in Beijing for a few hours or the weekend and are looking for a nice easy place to get some drinks and be around other foreigners then the bar street is the place to go. But after living in Beijing for a while now i tend to avoid that area entirely.
