Why Palm Tree Restaurant is special ?
Vegan and vegetarian food is not easy to come by on Phu Quoc, unless you consider devouring a couple of dragon fruits in Duong Dong Market a meal. For starters, nuoc mam (the essential Vietnamese condiment) is made from anchovies, and seafood is a big deal here. The Palm Tree Restaurant on Long Beach is one of the few vegan/vegetarian havens around. It serves tonnes of seafood of course, but it will cook nom-meat on request.
Palm Tree iss one of the few restaurants on Phu Quoc which will make vegan and vegetarian food upon request. If you want to go meat-eater for the day the seafood is recommended, for example the squid, scallops, garrupa and kingfish.
Must try dishes:
Banana pancakes for breakfast,
Grilled seafood for lunch,
Barbequed prawns and eggplant for dinner,
Grink chilled coconuts and beer until midnight.

Tips for you
Fantastic Vietnamese Restaurant run by a family. Lovely people and lovely food. Super tasty. Friendly environment. My girlfriend and me went there few times during our short holidays.Like it.
We debated for several minutes if we should go somewhere else as the restaurant was deserted and kitchen empty, this was just before 3pm so a supposedly popular place like this should´t be empty right!? We decided to go for it and we were politely greeted and soon the chef was woken up and came running in. We have had a lot of fresh spring roles on the island but these were the best, not by far but still the best. The following BBQ shrimp and lemongrass&chili white fish courses were spot on. The service over all was as in most places here struggling with english but came with the right attitude and a smile so not a deal breaker. Highly recommended for the quality of food and price.
BBQ aubergine, chicken in coconut sauce, fried egg rolls, fried chicken in pepper sauce: very well presented, very tasty, "chef" quality. Good service. Very enjoyable and highly recommended.
After Le Cocotier couple of days ago we decided to try The Palm Tree just 50 m away from La Veranda gate. The atmosphere is relaxing, the dining room spacious. We ordered Vietnamese and western food. My wife, Vietnamese, was not happy with the Vietnamese food. "Tasteless" she rated. She thinks western people might like it. I ordered deep fried chicken mushroom and green paper sauce. We loved it. I will come back for it. The smoothie with mix fruit was overpriced at 50,000 dong for a small glass. I recommend this place anyway.
