Why Nguyen Trung Truc Temple is special ?
Nguyen Trung Truc temple is near Ganh Dau to the North and it’s dedicated to Nguyen Trung Truc and his revolutionary warriors, who fought the French occupation by successfully employing guerilla warfare methods against the colonial power. Their greatest coup was the sinking of the French warship “L'Espérance” on December 10, 1861.
In the end Nguyen Trung Truc got captured, imprisoned and executed in Phu Quoc Prison. The temple got erected to memorize him, his soldiers and the Vietnamese struggle for independence. Each year, on the anniversary of his death, many tourists attend this festival and burn incense to pray for Nguyen Trung Truc.
What to explore at Nguyen Trung Truc Temple?
The first temple structure was a simple building with a thatched roof; over the years it has been enlarged and rebuilt several times. In the center of the main hall is a portrait of Nguyen Trung Truc on an altar. Even though it is not the largest temple in Kien Giang, it still has something for you to admire.
How to get to Nguyen Trung Truc Temple?
From Duong Dong town, bike back to the North Island. Just off the bustling town saw a little red dirt roads through peaceful villages, past the Phu Quoc National Park, the Northwest is to the fore Ganh Dau. In addition, visitors can also choose the western route, the Rach Tram up Ganh Dau by sea.
