Why New Town Plaza Shopping Centre is special ?

New Town Plaza is a sprawling complex encompassing three plazas in one located at the centre of Sha Tin. The main part of the mall centres on a nine-storey tower complete with a cinema, shops, restaurants, a roof garden and a themed fun world for kids.

garden and a themed fun world for kids.

This is definitely the mall to visit in Hong Kong if you have children in tow with an outdoor playground created around the character Snoopy; there is plenty here to keep even the most active kids amused for hours. The plaza is also packed with brand name shops stocking clothes, accessories, cosmetics and books, plus Hong Kong’s flagship IKEA store.

What to explore at New Town Plaza Shopping Centre?

Shopping at New Town Plaza will require a few hours or even a few days of shopping time with nine levels to explore. There are around 350 stores including Marks & Spencer and Japanese Seibu as anchors. Kids are well catered for with a Toys ‘R’ Us and there are plenty of well-known labels for style seeking shoppers including ZARA and ESPRIT, in addition to local trendsetters Pedder Red.

Head to Phase III for the higher end stores like Anna Sui and Philosophy or visit Phase I for more affordable options where the emphasis is on high street style.

If you are shopping for fashion and beauty then this is a good place to go. This shopping centre has a mixture of local brands and luxury brands like Burberry, Moschino and Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors. If you are looking for beauty and cosmetic products then there are brands like Dior, Estee Lauder and L'Oreal. Joyce Boutique has niche fragrances from Annick Goutal and Maison Francis Kurkdjian. L1 has plenty of eateries so you will be spoilt for choice. Also the 7th floor has restaurants and a Honeymoon Dessert which is very nice. My favourite part of the plaza is phase III which one level is dominated by Yata. I feel phase III has a more local feel to it.There are lots of more regional brands here so I feel that the plaza has a great mix of international luxury brands and local and regional brands. A nice place to spend some time.

My family of five had just come from legoland malaysia and stayed a day and a half at the Royal park hotel in Sha Tin for some needed shopping therapy. It was a weekend and the place was packed with locals! And for you shopaholics, this is the place to be! 350 stores and super number of restaurants will keep you busy for more than a day. Phase 1 has all the brands like Michael Corrs, Coach, Rolex etc. 7 floors of shops with outdoor and sporting goods on the fifth, electronics like fortress and cd warehouse on the sixth and quaint restaurants @Menu on 7th. On the third floor find Snoopyland. This is more of a photoshoot area for die hard peanut fans but not a theme park. Head to phase three from here and find Yata, a huge Japanese department store which is more a maze of shops and stands. Here also is citygate its super supermarket where you can japanese groceries or pick up sashimi and sushi to bring back to the hotel to snack on. Toys r us and great kid stores are on the ground floor of phase 3. Get great sales from bossini up tp 70 percent. Still hungry? My tip is the third floor of phase 1 is the key. It connects to citylink mall, a small mall with boutique shops such as Hallmark. Then from here go to Sha tin plaza, then to other malls such as hilton plaza, lucky plaza, where you will find cute specialty stores selling hello kitty, line items, local bags and clothes at low market prices. It would take three days for serious shoppers just to finish exploring all the stores available. Forget kowloon, causeway bay and central. This is the place to be!
