We visited this location because of the excellent trip advisor reviews. We were fed up of cheap but mediocre food and wanted something a bit more ‘special’. we were not disappointed. Although it cost us roughly twice what were used to paying don’t let that put you off, ‘cos it’s still VERY cheap at 466,000 vnd (roughly 21usd), per couple for 2 courses with beer and water. The staff were very professional as well as warm and friendly. It is run by a husband and wife team – he is the chef, she works front of house + there were 2 other staff, who were equally great. We chose to avoid the seafood BBQ, choosing instead to go for smoothing off the menu as we had seen so many dishes recommended by other TA reviews.I chose the fresh spring rolls – they were delicious and a huge portion of 2 large ones, cut into 2 – it would easily have fed 2 people. Then I had the tamarind prawns and they were also delicious! My husband, who doesn’t eat seafood, went for the chicken soup and the hot spicy chicken - both of which he said were superb. The hot and spicy was VERY hot though. The place was spotlessly clean, including the bathrooms. My one piece of advice would be don’t sit right outside as there is an unpleasant smell of drains – go right inside and you will be absolutely fine. Also, it was a bit misleading on the TA map – it is actually much farther than it says – so don’t give up – just keep going along the road out of town going south. And you will find it eventually – it looks like it is in the middle of nowhere. It is on the left hand side of the road, as you head south. When we arrived at 9pm, it was packed out, so it may even be worth booking in advance.

The owner manager of this roadside restaurant (along with his wife), is an experienced and excellent chef. After cookery studies in Ho Chi Minh City, he spent several years working as a chef, lastly being employed in the kitchen of the Verandah Hotel's restaurant, where he ended up as a senior chef. His wife's skills result in most dishes being accompanied with either a delicious salad (with especially good dressing) or fresh vegetables or both.Nemo restaurant is in a rather isolated southern location on Tran Hung Dao, which accounts for it sometimes being overlooked. We had two evening meals there, including grilled barracuda, scallops, king prawns and squid. All dishes were outstanding, except for the squid which was a little rubbery and not quite hot enough. Compared with all other restaurants that we tried, especially CAMI RESTO-CAFE just down the road (see review), the quality of the food and the service was definitely the best. The owner/chef is from Phu Quoc, having learned his trade in Saigon and then in several quality hotels and resorts, to return here to establish his own restaurant with his charming wife. They deserve to succeed in this small enterprise, and I recommend Nemo highly.
