Why Nam Giao Esplanade is special ?

Nam Giao Esplanade was established by Nguyen Dynasty, so it is well- known for its historical and ancient feature.


The open-air monument obviously reflects the old misconception of people about the universe (circular heavens and square earth), follows the principles of Yin and Yang and also represents 5 elements of the nature: Metal, Wood, Water, Fire and Earth (in order: Kim, Moc, Thuy, Hoa, Tho).


From Hue Festival 2004, people began replayed scenes Dan Nam Giao ceremony. It will take place on Hue Festival.


The royal ceremony is especially often restored on the occasion of Hue Festival (in 2002, 2004 and 2006 already), to pray for a peaceful country and prosperous people.

How to get to Nam Giao Esplanade?

You can get the Nam Giao esplanade by motorbike, bike, taxi, car.

If you are in Dien Bien Phu street, you will follow the street till the end.

If you are in Thien Lam pagoda, you can take taxi, go by motorbike and bike or even by foot. You will go straight on Thanh Hai street and turn right on Dien Bien Phu street. Nam Giao Esplanade is located in the end of street. It is about 1km.
