Museum Gedung Arca, better known residents of the North Sumatra Provincial State Museum North (abbreviated Provsu State Museum) is located at Jln. HM Joni No. 51 Medan. It is the largest museum in North Sumatra are various cultural heritage of the nation, the results of arts and crafts from various tribes in North Sumatra . The museum was built in 1954 and was inaugurated on 19 April 1982 by the Minister of Education and Culture Daoed Joesoef. This museum is one of the best museums in Indonesia . Museum building stands on an area of 10 468 m2, consisting of two floors of the main building which functioned for a permanent exhibition space, temporary exhibition space, audio visual room / lecture, museum head space, administration, guidance section room, library, micro films, computer room, as well as the warehouse.

Visiting this museum, you admire an ancient relic built in 1982. It consists of two floors of the main building which functioned for a permanent exhibition space, temporary exhibition space, audio visual room / lecture, museum head space, administration, guidance section room, library, micro films, computer room, as well as the warehouse.

This museum has a 6799 collection. It consists of a replica of a typical animal Sumatra, replicas of fossils of early humans , dioramas of prehistoric life, as well as a variety of prehistoric tools.

Moreover, you can see other relics such as statues -arca relic of Hindu - Buddhist , relics tombstone , Qur'an, replica Azizi Mosque, and also tooling times Dutch Colonial also collected. In addition, there is also a model of colonial figures and replicas of the life of the city of Medan ancient times.

Object collection includes weapons and modern traditional, medicine traditional -obatan, communications equipment used against the invaders. Also featured paintings of heroism and wartime propaganda poster. And lastly, photographs and paintings of the hero and former governor of North Sumatra are also collected here.

this museum has many transportation to reach, taxi, "angkot", "betor" can easily take you on there. but unfortunately like other old museum this museum didn't have good interesting outside view, this museum position right in ruin of traffic jam in lunch time, but don't worry if you are walker, there are nice culinary place in HM Joni street and around museum.
